Your First Visit--What to Expect!!
Your first visit to Balanced Life Chiropractic in Sidney, Ohio will include a consultation and examination. Balanced Life Chiropractic finds that it is very important to obtain a detailed health history to be able to care for you to the best of our ability. This is done through a consultation period that lasts approximately 30 minutes. During this time, Dr. Heitkamp will look over your initial paperwork, ask and answer questions, find out your goals for treatment, and conduct an exam. The exam may include Insight Subluxation Scan and/or Palpation Exam.
- What is Insight Subluxation Scan?
- The Insight Subluxation Scan consists of three separate non-invasive technologies. This technology is the latest and best technology in chiropractic today and is Certified by the Space Foundation, which is co-founded by NASA. Due to its non-invasive qualities, this scan can be used on people of all ages including infants and children. Balanced Life Chiropractic is a family oriented office and has an invested interest in your entire family, if you would like to have all members of your family checked, please let us know. We will be happy to accommodate a time for individual or family appointments.
- Thermal Scanner = compares skin temperature differences on either side of the spine.
- Surface EMG = shows how stress to the nervous system is affecting muscles around the spine.
- Heart Rate Variability = shows how stress affects heart rhythms and overall ability to adapt to environmental stressor.
- What is a Palpation Exam?
- The palpation exam is extremely important to the Doctor of Chiropractic and is done using the sense of touch. This exam is conducted on every visit to detect spinal misalignments (subluxations) and muscle tension around the spine. This helps determine areas that may need to be adjusted as well as where any muscle work may need to be done. After the initial consultation and exam, you will be asked to schedule your next visit to the office. The next visit will consist of a Report of Findings (ROF). Dr. Heitkamp will review the examination findings from your initial visit and will prepare information for your next meeting.
Your Second Visit--What to Expect!!
Your second visit to Balanced Life Chiropractic typically includes an individualized report of findings and chiropractic care.
- Report of Findings
- During the report of findings, Dr. Heitkamp will explain how your nervous system is functioning through the knowledge obtained from your Insight scan. If a palpation examination was conducted, these findings will also be discussed. Proper chiropractic education will occur during your report of findings and time is allotted for all of your questions to be answered. This is also the time where we will go over your goals for treatment and find a plan that fits with your lifestyle and health needs. Your chiropractic care will begin immediately after the report of findings is conducted if you choose Balanced Life Chiropractic to assist with your health and wellness needs.

- Chiropractic care is specific to individual needs; however, a typical visit consists of a chiropractic adjustment.
